Hi Paul. Think the artist used a lot of license with this, but can think of a couple of places it might be. Would need to check out though. Not easy the way things are at the moment for me. Not heard of Popes Pit? Looking at the side by side georeferenced maps possibly confirms one of my thoughts. I'm sure that you are aware there are lots of old gravel pits scattered across the heath and adjacent ground.
